Start Dates

ALPS has official start dates every 4 weeks.
Custom courses can start any week (but you shouldn’t start a course in the fourth week of a 4-week session).
Standard ALPS sessions are 4 weeks long. You can study for as many sessions as you want (8 weeks, 12 weeks, etc.).
If you are comparing ALPS sessions with other schools that use the quarter system,

1 quarter = 10 weeks = 2.5 ALPS sessions

ALPS is closed and there is no school on the following federal holidays in 2026:

January 1 (New Year’s Day), January 19 (MLK Day), February 16 (Presidents’ Day), May 25 (Memorial Day), July 3 (Independence Day), September 7 (Labor Day), November 26 & 27 (Thanksgiving), December 24 & 25 (Christmas)

Custom Start Dates

If you would like to start on a different date, you can! We are very flexible and we are happy to work with you to find classes to meet your goals.

We have custom course lengths and custom start dates available.

Our minimum enrollment period for group classes is 2 weeks if you don’t need an I-20, or 4 weeks in order to be eligible for an I-20. There is no minimum enrollment period for private lessons.

To calculate the price per week, divide our 4-week session price by 4.
