A Short Introduction to the ALPS Experience

Get a small introduction to the ALPS experience in a Workshop class. Choose from 2 options to meet your goals:

Northwest Culture – for students with speaking, discussion, and general English goals
Academic Workshop – for students with academic goals

Take this class alone or in combination with other ALPS classes to meet your goals.

Learn about Seattle culture and the culture of the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.

Practice discussion and research skills and expand your vocabulary.

Enrich your experience on ALPS activities by learning more about local Seattle cultural destinations.

Learn and practice the academic skills you need to succeed at an American university.

Get feedback on your writing.

Expand your academic vocabulary.

3 periods on Fridays – 12 total periods per 4-week session
- 1 ALPS period = 50 minutes + a 10-minute break
Small class size guarantee – 3-8 students per class, 8 students maximum.

Other Fees

One-time application fee – $150 for F-1 visa students, $50 for all other visa types
Facility & Activity fee – $35 per 4-week session
Medical insurance – $175 per 4-week session
- F-1 visa students are required to have medical insurance at all times. However, you are not required to buy insurance from ALPS. If you purchase insurance elsewhere, this fee is not charged.
- ALPS medical insurance is only available to F-1 visa students on an ALPS I-20.
Book fees – $30-90 per Intensive class (Intensive Speaking & Listening, Intensive Reading & Writing, and/or Intensive Test Prep), depending on class and level. You will need to buy new textbooks every 1-3 sessions.
